Touted as the future of motorcycle engines upon its release in 1974, the Suzuki RE5 featured a Wankel rotary engine. This meant no pistons and no valves, and was a bold move for Suzuki to take. The seemingly straightforward rotary engine however ended up presenting more problems than expected.
